January 24th 2009 marks the opening of the NADA (National Automobile Dealers Association) show. This year the show will be held at the Morial Convention Center in New Orleans. There are an estimated 520 booths that will be at the show this year. This is down a bit from last year which is understandable because of the state that the industry found itself at year end.
The theme of the show this year is ‘Voice of the Dealer® … Committed to Community.’ This should be an excellent convention full of insight and opportunity for all that attend.
The Auto Dealer Improvements team will be onsite at the show and would love to meet with all who would like to spend some time and get to know us. We will be sharing the success of our product MyObsoleteParts.com and showing the dealers how they can discover and unlock new streams of revenue to propel them into the future.
To set up a meeting click on the link below and fill out the contact form. We will then get a hold of you and set up a time. We look forward to seeing you there.

We wanted to address a question that was brought up by a myobsoleteparts.com customer this week.
Question: “How many people are searching for my parts that are listed on your search page?”
Answer: Our web management team closely observes our sites statistics. Currently we are using 3 different web analysis tools to verify such information. We are proud to say, there are hundreds of hits per day on our search engine and parts are also being searched all over from Google, Yahoo, Msn, and many other search engine sites. Those hits are directed straight to our search page.
I thought I would go into a little more detail of what is being searched. What we are seeing is several hits searching lets say Google. They will enter “GM Obsolete Parts” or “Ford Parts”. Once they hit that keyword in Google, it will bring up myobsoleteparts.com. We can then tell that they hit our search page and will enter another keyword for whatever part they are searching. Those keywords that are entered on our search page are usually entries such as, “Hose”, “Battery”, “Seat”, “Fender”, “Side Mirrors”, and many more.
We are excited with the explosion of parts searches and purchases. We hope you are seeing steady results by purchased parts and driving traffic to your Dealership sites.
To introduce myself, I oversee our product development and work closely with Jason our Sr Developer on our products development. We were discussing over the past few weeks about putting out a blog where we could keep everyone in the “know how” on what we’re cooking, and what to expect down the road. For our publication we’ll go into what we’ve done, what we have planned, and where we want to see things go from here.
Most of our early Beta users can remember our first release of myobsoleteparts.com back in January. It was a site that had limited control on what a Dealer could do with their account and included a very simple shopping cart. Parts were able to be listed, searched, and consumers were allowed to purchase if they wished to. Since then we have made many improvements. This takes us to our 2.0 version. We have included a new look and feel, we re-designed the administration part of the site allowing you to have more control on what happens with your account and how your parts are sold and displayed. Those new visible features that came with 2.0 were an Inventory Rate Adjuster, Shipping Center, a more Powerful Search Engine. Our shopping cart now allows multiple parts to be purchased and the adjusted shipping rates are now included on the total. With that said we have given our users a powerful tool allowing them to be in control of those parts and further their chances of selling obsolete parts.
After the launch of 2.0 our development team has listened to feedback, observed support issues, we’ve thought of several new ideas and enhancements we want to develop and add to myobsoleteparst.com. Over the years I have come to learn that the internet is a great marketing tool. The question came up, how can we give our Dealers and users further marketing exposure? As a pre announcement we will be launching a new feature that will be only available to our Pro Accounts. This feature will tie in a click able link on the search page that will take any user who clicks on that dealership link to a new page. That page will be the dealerships page where it will have a Phone Number, Address, and even an image of your dealership which is optional. Eventually down the line we will further expand this page where it will have your parts all displayed below. In discussing this with several of our Beta users, we believe this will be a great feature that will give you even more Marketing Exposure. I like to think of a mechanic coming to myobsoleteparts.com, searching for a part, he can’t find what he’s looking for but clicks your page, gets your phone number and there lies the potential customer for you.
Other plans we have in the works is a even more powerful search engine, a Parts Database Wizard that will allow you to upload and format your file even easier. Our Wizard utility will take care of any headaches and get your parts listed on our search engine even quicker. We will be brainstorming more ideas on how we can further enhance this product. If you have any questions, or comments, please don’t hesitate to ask. We love to hear feedback and are here to help you succeed in selling those obsolete parts.
